Heh

Hehe, it was you who created that chor scene. I remember that, I even tried to create my own version of it, but I've failed. Because my decompiler didn't like that map as much as other maps. :\ --Sortie 12:38, 5 Feb 2007 (PST)

"Getting Real"

I remember that many months ago, you were soliciting links that you thought would be helpful for mod teams. (I can't remember on which page though, hence why I'm posting here.) At the time, I recommended 37 Signals' "Getting Real" philosophy but bemoaned the fact that they'd put all their content on the subject behind a pay wall.

Yesterday they took the pay wall down, delivering an HTML copy of what had become a PDF e-book. I'd put it up on the appropriate page, but like I say, I can't remember what page that was. As before, I think that while some of the philosophy is specific to web design, much of it is really relevant for mod teams. It emphasises small teams, nimble development with rapid iterative re-releases rather than big versions, doing "less" than your gorilla-sized competitors but doing it with focus and elegance, etc etc.

I'll let you figure out what, if anything, to do with the link, and get back to reading through it. :) --Giles 04:47, 26 Oct 2006 (PDT)

I believe it was Successful Mod Team Tips?
I'll be reading that document too: it sounds interesting. Given that, it might be you who's first available to link to the relevant bits. Feel free to kick things off if that happens. --TomEdwards 05:32, 26 Oct 2006 (PDT)
If it's 37signals, you also have to learn to ignore pre-existing programming standards and guidelines, and create everything in an amazingly, horrifically insecure and dung-smeared, web2.0 kind of way. But otherwise, the basic gist of it seems sound. ;-) —Cargo Cult (info, talk) 11:39, 26 Oct 2006 (PDT)

VTF2TGA

You said this program was "inflexible" awhile back. Have you ever gotten this program to respond at all? If so, how did you manage to do that? I can't get any response from it besides it flickering an empty DOS screen at me. --Andreasen 07:00, 16 Nov 2006 (PST)

Oh, that was me? :-p IIRC it's the VTEX process reversed, but I'm not quite sure and can't test it myself. --TomEdwards 10:37, 16 Nov 2006 (PST)
Several forum sources (and my own testing) strongly supports my theory that it has died somewhere around the end of 2004, so I've altered the entry. If you can get it to work properly (and it isn't a downloaded older version) tell us how you did it, but by now I'm fairly certain you won't be able to. --Andreasen 10:47, 16 Nov 2006 (PST)
