Portal 2 was released on
Xbox 360 and
PlayStation 3 consoles on the same day (19 April 2011) as PC version on Steam, and are similar to latest version on PC, aside from running on older version of Portal 2 engine branch, and the following differences below. The
Nintendo Switch version of the game was later released on 28 June 2022, under
Portal Companion Collection.
The Xbox 360 version of the game is backward compatible on Xbox One & Xbox Series X/S, and is rendered at 4K on Xbox One X and Xbox Series X/S.
Key Differences (
and
only)
- The Puzzlemaker is not present, and Steam Workshop is not supported.
- Render resolution at 1280x720 and 30 FPS locked framerate.

Xbox 360 version relies on Xbox Live (now Xbox network) services.
PlayStation 3 version has Steam integration (Steamworks), achievements are synced with both PSN and Steam, and PS3 users were able to complete co-op levels with Steam friends. Support on the PS3 has ended in 2016, with the online service quietly ended or stop working in May 22, 2018. As of 2025, the Steam integration has been unofficially revived using third-party plugins for modded PlayStation 3 console.
