User Interface Localization Issues

Issues

Japanese

• Steam "store" is translated into "??" which means "saving data" - not a store where you buy stuffs. This should be "???"(store) or "????"(shop - this one is more common). n-neko 21:19, 11 Oct 2005 (PDT)

French

• The 10/11 release is much more localised in French but the Monitor and the games Properties are still mixed with English

• Some button's texts at the bottom of the main windows are cropped. 'News' and 'Settings' are longer than the text-area in French language. Maybe you can expand them.

German

• The german language is not written completely in all buttons. Example: The word "Abbrechen" (cancel) is only written as "Abbrecher" (there is missing a part of the last letter "n"). The button "Close" (Schließen) is not translated. --DEv!L

• Translation error at german language. By clicking right on Half-Life 2 there is written: "Spieler manuell anzeigen". Spieler-Manual anzeigen is the correct translation i think, isn't it? --DEv!L

• The Steam Bandwidth monitor is not translated. All texts are in english. --DEv!L

• The button "Add server" in the Serverbrowser is only written "Server hinzufü". There is missing a part of "hinzufügen". --DEv!L

Spanish

• Properties - General window not translated at all. "Homepage" => "Web" or "Web Oficial" ; "Developer" => "Desarrollador"; button "Set launch options" => "Introducir opciones de inicio" or "Introducir comando de inicio" ; button "Create desktop shortcut" => "Crear acceso directo en el escritorio" ; title "Third Party" => "De terceros" or "Juego de Terceros" ; title "[ none available ]" => "[ No disponible ]"

• Properties - Updates window not translated at all. "View (game_name) update history" => "Visualizar historial de actualizaciones de (game_name)" or "Ver historial de actualizaciones de (game_name)" or similar.

• Properties - Local Files window not translated at all. "Disk usage" => "Espacio Utilizado" ; button "Verify integrity of game cache" => "Verificar integración de los archivos caché del juego" or similar.
  • It would make sense as "Verificar estado del caché del juego", either that or change "integración" with "integridad", which is the right word, by the way.
    • You're right; I agree.

• Propierties title window: "Properties" => "Propiedades" and right-down button "Close" => "Cerrar"

• Steam - Bandwidth Monitor is not translated at all: "Current download rate" => "Velocidad actual de descarga" : "Peack download rate" => "Velocidad máxima de descarga" ; "Total bytes downloaded this sesion" => "Total de bytes descargados en esta sesión"

• Steam - Bandwidth Monitor title => "Monitor de descarga" or "Monitor de transferencias" or similar.

• Menu "Ayuda" (Help in English) not translated at all: "Privacy policy" => "Política de privacidad" ; "Legal Information" => "Información Legal" and "Steam suscriber agreement" => "Acuerdo de suscripción de Steam" or "Acuerdo de suscripción a Steam"

• Some text at the bottom of the main window (big window, not the "mini" window) ara incomplete: Examples: SERVIDORE => SERVIDORES ; PARÿMETR => PARÿMETROS ; ASISTENCI => ASISTENCIA

• On the list in the mini-window of Steam, appear Half-Life 2: Lost Coast (Unreleased). The correct translation is "Half-Life 2: Lost Coast (No publicado)"

• The loading screen has a bunch of text that is run together and the text in one of the buttons is too long for the button itself. --AlphaWolf 16:29, 14 Oct 2005 (PDT)

Italian

• In Menubar

• Steam doesn't download the italian language "voice" file of Opposing Force. ( I don'k know if this problem happens with the other languages )

Danish

• Changing the language to Danish causes any Source Engine games to crash under game startup ( I'm sure that it may have been caused by the special danish characters 'æ', 'ø' & 'å' )

Spanish

• Why not change the text "Lanzar" with the text "Comenzar" (Start in English) or "Jugar" (Play in English) on the main Steam window ?? It's strange and unusual for spanish people read "Lanzar" aplicated for a game or say "Voy a lanzar un juego"; we say "Voy a jugar un juego" or something similar ("Empezar juego", "Ejecutar juego", etc). I think the "Lanzar" word is not a correct translation of the "Launch" button.
