Normally the pipe is used as a separator for parameters and will not display correctly. Using <code><nowiki>{{!}}</nowiki></code> will render <code>|</code> within the template. The expression {{!}} allows the pipe character | to be inserted into a template. Normally the pipe is used as a separator for parameters and will not display correctly. Using {{!}} will render | within the template. This is also necessary for tables.
{{!}} is no longer a template call but instead a magic word since MediaWiki 1.24. We're above that. Deleting this page would have no impact, except for new editors trying to search it and not finding the above information.
