:Valve will probably use the same system in other projects. I wouldn't be surprised if they made "Half-Life 2: Director's Cut". * Don't forget that all Source games have the "enable commentary" option in the audio panel since Day of Defeat Source was released. It's very possible that in the next SDK update we'll have the  commentary system's source. If you notice in the article, Robin was talking about the game DLL doing certain things.. and the game DLL is compiled with the SDK. --AndrewNeo 18:51, 31 Oct 2005 (PST)

What is the intended difference between otherlang and otherlang2 templates? —Maven (talk) 12:12, 19 Sep 2005 (PDT)

 • Right now otherlang refers to the article with the same title name with the lang tag at then, while otherlang2 refers to an entirely differently named article. I'm in the process of rewriting the language tags right now though. --AndrewNeo 12:13, 19 Sep 2005 (PDT)
Ah, I see what you're doing. That's a much better way. Much cleaner syntax, too. —Maven (talk) 12:21, 19 Sep 2005 (PDT)
 • I thought so. Once I'm done I'll make a VDC namespace page on how to add translation tags so everyone knows. --AndrewNeo 12:22, 19 Sep 2005 (PDT)
The "for that you get a cookie" award

For that table, you earn a cookie. —Maven (talk) 12:29, 6 Oct 2005 (PDT)

Now that's funny. :-) --wisemx 12:39, 6 Oct 2005 (PDT)
 • Yay, a cookie! And it took me forever to make it :) --AndrewNeo 13:25, 6 Oct 2005 (PDT)
You did a great job. btw, are we the Tres Amigos? --wisemx 14:50, 6 Oct 2005 (PDT)
 • I suppose! ;) --AndrewNeo 12:52, 7 Oct 2005 (PDT)

Game templates

I like the steam game templates, but the third-party templates aren't quite as visually appealing. By the way, are you planning on using eight different templates for those, or only three with templatized image names?

This game is currently {}.

Maven (talk) 13:36, 7 Oct 2005 (PDT)

 • I had the same feeling about the third-party templates, that's why they're still sitting in my sandbox. And actually, that's not a bad idea, but you might want something like This game is currently {text}. so you can have something different between the image and beta. That's a good idea though, to save on templates. --AndrewNeo 14:05, 7 Oct 2005 (PDT)

Would you like to tell me where you find the "Revert" button for pages—ts2do (talk) 18:04, 16 Oct 2005 (PDT)

 • Only admins can revert. To do it manually, go to a previous diff of a page, click edit, then click 'Save page'. This will re-save the older version. --AndrewNeo 18:37, 16 Oct 2005 (PDT)

Thanks for the comment on my tutorial Wad2Source. I changed it and hopefully it works out better.

"That's some hardcore reverse engineering going on there" <chuckle> This post started out involving hex editors, disassemblers, and SoftICE... and then I realized that you were speaking tongue-in-cheek. —Maven (talk) 16:46, 28 Oct 2005 (PDT)

 • Mostly sarcasm, I thought.. ;) Though I was suprised to learn that the commentary system's points actually weren't inside the Lost Coast map, unless vmex isn't decompiling it properly. --AndrewNeo 16:48, 28 Oct 2005 (PDT)

Commentary system ents are only available in lostcoast dlls, so how is the documentation helpful?—ts2do (talk) 18:17, 31 Oct 2005 (PST)

Valve will probably use the same system in other projects. I wouldn't be surprised if they made "Half-Life 2: Director's Cut". So it's not terribly unlikely that we'll eventually see the commentary system added to HL2. In that case, single-player mappers would be interested, even if modders can't use it. —Maven (talk) 18:28, 31 Oct 2005 (PST)
