Opening Team Fortress 2 as a particle editor

Start Team Fortress 2 as particle editor by adding -tools to launch options

Making a particle

see https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Particle_Editor then save your particle in the particles folder

Testing your unusual

first make a txt file called particles_manifest and paste this in it

particles_manifest
{
"file" "!particles/yourparticlenamehere.pcf"
}

replace yourparticlenamehere to your particle name then

open console and type map itemtest then open console again and type itemtest and open the particle editor again with your custom particle and add a new particle called "superrare_beams1" and add a child particle which is your particle and return to the game and select a hat in item test menu and make sure the unusual effect is Sunbeams then it should work
