Basic signitures

To sign your posts, add ~~~~ (four tildes) where you want your name to go.

Four tildes signs your name and the date. There are other modes. Here are some examples of what happens when user AndrewNeo signs in each mode:

Wikicode Result
~~~ AndrewNeo
~~~~ AndrewNeo 18:25, 28 Nov 2005 (PST)
~~~~~ 18:25, 28 Nov 2005 (PST)
Custom signatures
You can have a different name than your username in a sig. An example of this is user Mark WiseCarver's:
Wikicode Result
--~~~~ --wisemx 05:27, 7 Aug 2005 (PDT)
To do this, go to Preferences, select 'User Data' (if it's not already selected) and put the desired nickname in the 'Your nickname (for signatures):' field.
You can also create fully-custom sigs, such as user Maven's:
Wikicode Result
~~~~ Maven (talk) 19:17, 28 Nov 2005 (PST)

In this case you need to checkmark the 'Raw signatures (without automatic link)' box. In Maven's case the code in 'Your nickname (for signatures):' was: —'''[[User:Maven|Maven]]''' ([[User talk:Maven|talk]]).

Guidelines

Please sign your posts to Talk pages. Please do not sign main pages, even if you create them from scratch. Your work is attributed to you through the page history (look for the history link at the top of the page).

Most people put two dashes in front of their sigs: --~~~~.

Please do not put pictures in your sig. Please do not use templates in your sig. If you're changing the font in your sig, please be aware that most fonts aren't going to be visible to all users of the wiki. Please avoid long wikicode in sigs.
