Template talk:Base point ep2
Source Engine Versions
For these templates I simply copied the EP1, EP2 labels into them, but I suspect the important diffs are actually between the original HL2 engine, the Source SDK Base (ep1) engine and the Source SDK Base - Orange Box (ep2) engine. It's an easy matter to change the labels in the template, but might be more tedious go through the Entities checking that they have the correct engine attributions. --Beeswax 07:32, 14 Apr 2008 (PDT)
This label change might also apply to also Ts2do's inline templates : Template:EP1_add and Template:EP2_add? --Beeswax 07:32, 14 Apr 2008 (PDT)
- There are two levels in the source code here: the base engine entities and the game entities. There are a handful of new entities specific to the Ep2 game code, mostly NPCs, but in general it's best to refer to Orange Box and Ep1. Besides, you can always pick and choose which entities you want from the episodes. --TomEdwards 10:07, 14 Apr 2008 (PDT)
- Yes, Game-specific entities - especially NPCs and AI - are not included in base.gcf, but in the likes of halflife2.gcf, etc. --Beeswax 17:42, 14 Apr 2008 (PDT)
- However, the EP1 engine is called "Source SDK Base" and the EP2 engine is called "Source SDK Base - Orange Box". These provide 2 different versions of, say, the base.fgd. The "Original HL2" engine predates EP1 and is still used for HL2, HL2DM and - as far as I'm aware - both CSS and DOD ? --Beeswax 17:42, 14 Apr 2008 (PDT)
