RAM & VRAD

Are you sure for 2.75go? I compil a big map, and at 1.8Go the VRAD stop. So I have 4go of RAM, but XP 32bits can use 2Go maximum by applications. --Anarkia777 16:21, 31 July 2010 (UTC)

what is "go"? --Pfannkuchen 16:31, 31 July 2010 (UTC)
232 = 4,294,967,296 bytes

2^32 / (1024 x 1024) = 4GB Once you factor out System reserved and video memory you end up with 2.7. If you have less you are using more for video memory. And Vrad doesn't crash when you 'run out of ram', windows simply begins paging ram to the harddrive. (which is slow) --Omnicoder 16:56, 31 July 2010 (UTC)

On task manager your VRAD can use more than 1.8? Hummm I am a problem .... But I thing that 32bit system is not possible to use more 2Go by applications, same with paging Ram. On Catia, a sofware for mechanical, I use 64bits system because on 32bits the max is 2Go. So all desginer mechanical and engeering use 64bits windows. I remenbers that on Catia 32bits when you have a file more that 2Go, the paging ram begins, but it is very slow, and often crash. --Anarkia777 20:02, 31 July 2010 (UTC) There is an artificial per application limit of 2GB but third party applications can remove this. And paging will not crash something, only slow it down. --Omnicoder 01:42, 1 August 2010 (UTC)

I still want to know what "go" should mean. --Pfannkuchen 12:10, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
It's what people in France call a gigabyte. --TomEdwards 12:21, 2 August 2010 (UTC)

Oh yes i understand, go is right gigabyte, 2go of RAM....--Anarkia777 19:58, 2 August 2010 (UTC)
