Parent
This page fails to mention that this entity has a Parent keyvalue. (I'm in a hurry.) --Andreasen 22:09, 15 Jan 2007 (PST)
Yeah, speaking of the parent thing, I parented this light to a train, and for some reason, the models on the train are lit while none of the brushes aren't... strange --Darthkillyou
Unclear about "brightness" and "spotlight_radius" keyvalue
What does the 6 or 8 mean? What's the result of other values? If this value is restricted to 6 or 8, how do I determine the brightness of this light?
What does "the radius of the light at the object that it is hitting" mean and what's the difference between this and the distance? FloraC (talk) 17:02, 5 July 2019 (UTC)
- I tested these and now it's known that the numbers are set for practical reasons. And the "troll" was right: any value between 5 and 8 may work.
- It appears that the spotlight radius affects world brushes only, and what a silly way to control brightness! It's hard to match the two lights. FloraC (talk) 07:16, 6 July 2019 (UTC)
I think this is the wrong way to set light brightness after all. Setting to '6 or 8' makes all models in the map appear super bright. You should set the light brightness back to 1, and raise the spotlight_radius up to 200-500. Andreason even mentions above, back in 2007, from this "6-8 info" added earlier, that their models all appear to be lit white. --Egan 21:01, 19 Sept 2021 (PST)
Indirect Lighting
Does this entity support indirect lighting of any kind? I am assuming not, but want to make sure. ClikOnVDC (talk) 13:55, 12 August 2022 (PDT)
