I've never managed to get open source to work, is it broken? --TomEdwards 13:08, 2 Jul 2005 (PDT)

It should work if you have a text editor associated with .VMT files in Windows. It uses the "open" windows command to open the file, so make sure your association contains that command. I'll add that to the documentation. --JeffLane 17:14, 2 Jul 2005 (PDT)
"Open Source" button definitely works. You just have to make sure the .vmt's are extracted... Duh, took me a while to figure that out! :) --- Campaignjunkie 01:17, 18 Jul 2005 (PDT)
I've got it working for custom materials, but ones in GCFs still don't load. --TomEdwards 01:50, 18 Jul 2005 (PDT)
They won't. All "Open Source" does is issue a Windows command message to try and open the file with the associated text editor. It will only work with files directly accessible by the windows file system. Files compressed inside a .GCF are not. This may be something we can add in the future. --JeffLane 12:20, 18 Jul 2005 (PDT)

Opaque, Translucent, SelfIllum, Envmask (MODELS!)

having a models checkbox would be handy seeing as how using model textures on world brushes will give errors generaly and there are lots of model texturesto go through. comments?

Well if it has "model" in the texture name, you probably don't want to use it. But I think Valve is working on enhancements like this for the coming Hammer update anyway. --- Campaignjunkie 01:17, 18 Jul 2005 (PDT)
What exactly do we know about that? --TomEdwards 10:30, 19 Jul 2005 (PDT)

Merge with Applying Materials?

These shouldn't actually be merged. This is reference documentation for the Texture Browser specifically, and the Applying Materials article is really a general tutorial. --JeffLane 23:40, 12 Mar 2006 (PST)

Keywords?

There's nothing in the article about the 'Keywords' dropdown underneath the Filter box. Anyone know how it's supposed to work? I've just tried selecting a keyword and Hammer's stopped responding, task manager shows it using barely any CPU but allocating more and more memory... --Superpig 02:45, 17 Nov 2007 (PST)
