New particle system information

So are we/have we gotten new information on the Episode 2 particle system they talk in the commentary so much about? They even said that people might be able to make it for individual levels and such, so I'd like to see them write up a short tutorial. I could very well have missed something, though. --Katana314 09:44, 17 Oct 2007 (PDT)

Be patient.. Since I Source SDK hasn't recieved an update yet (obviously, since mine's still in Episode 1 format), I assume they're working on it. Meanwhile, read Valve Time for more information on the release of this tutorial. --Baliame 09:56, 17 Oct 2007 (PDT)

New update comes out Oct 30th.--Gear 14:29, 17 Oct 2007 (PDT)

In Valve Time. =)

Sorry if I seemed impatient; I was just curious if we would get to use it at some point. --Katana314 10:24, 4 Nov 2007 (PST)

We'll get a Source SDK Next week (Week of November 5th.) according to Mike Durand, of course things change, and it may be delayed. Hopefully they'll add an actual icon (They gave it one on the Steam Community Site, so that's what I'm using in my Quick Launch. --Frostbite 13:33, 4 Nov 2007 (PST)

Found a hidden one it's called Rain_01. From the GDC 2006. Still in here. --FaTony 06:36, 12 Sep 2008 (PDT)

Not hidden at all. I'm using it since the particle system was released. You know, you should not trust this particle list and use the particle editor instead. There's hundreds of these in the Episode Two, some of them were even never used, and some others are clearly for the Episode Three (like the polar auroras and the advisor's psychic attacks). --NykO18 06:52, 12 Sep 2008 (PDT)

Why do some of the effects have question marks, are they unknown if they exist? I have confirmed Aurora 02b works. Making a map/room with all the particle effects, and may post tut as soon as I figure out the Control Points. --LordNed 12:19, 18 Nov 2007 (PST)

What exactly is this representative of?

How was this list created and what exactly does it represent? I'm looking through the .pcf files in episode two content.gcf/ep2/particles/ right now and they definitely don't match up. For example, there is a waterfall.pcf but this list has Waterfall_Spray_01, Waterfall_Cascade_01, and Waterfall_Impact_01. I'm just curious what's going on here, and what this means for implementation purposes. --Mrhappy 20:50, 9 Dec 2007 (PST)

WaterFall.pcf is much like a pack file, it contains all three of those particles, unless someone has put that up wrong.--Gear 15:51, 10 Dec 2007 (PST)

Mysterious Particle System

I discovered one map (ep2_outland_11a) uses a particle system called water_splash_leakypipe_silo - however, I cannot find it in any of the .pcf files...I would like to open it in the particle editor, but where do I find this system? --quanta 02:29, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

Screenshots

After thinking about it, it'd be difficult to take a screenshot of a particle, especially if it's a large animated one. Unless there were three screenshots, first started at the first frame, second--middle, and third--last. Just a suggestion. --Mattshu 03:49, 7 February 2011 (UTC)

The problem with that is that screenshots take space in the webpage. I think that a little description, like the one made for the soundscapes, would be good enoungh (example: water_leak_01: bareley visible water leak, thin and curved.).--Mgs Blazer mgs 20:16, 14 June 2011 (UTC)

Russian translation?

Do we really need to have an exact replica of an entire page just to provide a two-line translation? --Mattshu 00:28, 13 February 2011 (UTC)
