Brief Overview
Lethal Stigma is a multiplayer role-playing first-person shooter for the Source engine. Taking place in the Half-Life 2 universe, LS immerses the player in a familiar world with four exciting gamemodes and a boatload of unique features.
Gamemodes
Team Elimination
In TE, players are spawned as either a member of the Resistance or the Combine. They are then encouraged to dispose of members of the opposing faction in a timely manner. TE is not to be confused with Team Deathmatch, because should a player die, they will respawn on the other team. The game continues until all players on one side are killed and an entire force is eliminated, at which time the opposing faction wins.
Free for All
Similar to HL2DM's Deathmatch gamemode, FFA is frighteningly fast-paced and chaotic. The objective is simple: kill or be killed; to win, you must kill the most enemies. What makes this gamemode far more fun and addicting than a simple game of Deathmatch is Lethal Stigma's many unique features and class system.
Capture the Flag
Lethal Stigma's take on CTF is a unique one. Rather than having two team-based flags, there is a single flag hidden somewhere on the map that both teams are encouraged to locate and capture. Once a flag is captured by either a member of the Resistance or the Combine, that player becomes a flag carrier who is unable to use any weaponry. Therefore, the carrier must rely solely on upgrades and the help of his teammates to survive for a given period of time. Once enough time has elapsed and if he is still alive, the flag carrier’s team scores a capture point and another flag is spawned and hidden. The force who obtains a certain amount of capture points before the other team is declared the winner.
Outbreak
In tribute to Agent Red Production's other project, Situation Outbreak, this gamemode pitches players against the undead. Get your friends and duke it out against mass numbers of zombie and headcrab NPCs. The one who kills the most creeps before time runs out will be declared the winner.
Player Classes
Tank
Armed with an AR2, this beast has double the amount of health as his counterparts and plenty of firepower, making him the perfect bodyguard. However, this strength comes at a price: he's quite slow. That being said, the tank is a class that thrives in indoor and outdoor environments alike, so if you like brute force, you're in heaven.
Assault
A good balance between speed and power, the assault class moves quickly and wields a sub-machine gun. It is deadly in numbers and popular among players new to the game, so you had better watch out before making your way into an enemy base.
Sniper
Needless to say, the sniper is excellent at killing enemies at a distance. Armed with a scary-accurate crossbow, this class is a perfect choice for players who like to think tactically and plan out their attacks. Just make sure you avoid any close encounters with the enemy.
Engineer
Need a dispenser here! Armed with balls of steel, the engineer class is the only class that can manipulate its surroundings with the powerful gravity gun and support his teammates on-demand with automated floor turrets. Wielding Alyx's gun from the HL2 series, he is an excellent choice for those who are already familiar with games like HL2DM and TF2.
Medic
Charge me doctor! Okay, I'm done with the TF2 references, I swear. Lethal Stigma's medic is equipped with a powerful shotgun to make up for his low health. He is also provided with a single health kit. Heal your teammates and be rewarded, or be a selfish bastard and heal yourself. The choice is yours and yours alone, my friends.
Miscellaneous Features
- A sophisticated experience system that rewards players for achievements such as grenade and melee kills, killing sprees, kill assists, and much more.
- The ability to upgrade your character using recyclable upgrade points to increase your effectiveness on the field of battle with special HEV suit abilities (invisibility, health regeneration, armor-piercing rounds, etc) and powerful weaponry.
- A unique accuracy system that encourages tactical assaults over firing blindly at an enemy.
- Access to both classic HL2 and brand-new weapons and items such as dual pistols, Alyx's gun, portable health kits, and deployable turrets.
