I've encountered this error since the update. Playing Half-Life 2 and Episode One does not help to fix this. I'm suspecting that a fix needs to be released. --Andreasen 09:33, 8 Nov 2007 (PST)
- If you're using the episode 1 engine games (HL2, CS:S, EP 1, and all mods), then you will encounter this error. Try switching to the older engine by adding -engine ep1 in the SDK shortcut command line. To switch back, use -engine orangebox. Solokiller 10:09, 8 Nov 2007 (PST)
- Older engine? I haven't been able to edit Episode One material using the unmodified engine. (Ts2do released a third party fix, but I never installed it, thinking that Valve would get around to updating this automatically.)

THANKS A TON!!!!! i've been getting ever so frustrated...
Oh by the way, will it help to have the GCF files of the game, even if u dont own it? because i have a friend who doesn't own the orange box games, but has the GCF files for them, and still gets this error (don't ask me how he got the gcf files, probably xfire friend file transfers) any advice i should give to my friend?
