Template:Game name is a multiplayer zombie game developed by Monochrome Inc. (Formerly Monochrome LLC) created using the Source Engine. It is the spiritual successor to Zombie Panic! Source and was mostly self-funded, but with the help of the Kickstarter campaign, it managed to get released on Steam as Early Access back in 2013. It left Early Access the year after.


Archived Page History/Contagion/en is based on Left 4 Dead 2's engine branch. Therefore, much of the documentation on this wiki pertaining to Left 4 Dead 2 may also apply to Archived Page History/Contagion/en.


Features

Increased engine limits

More brushes and entities can be used within a single level allowing for larger and more detailed levels.

Peer-2-Peer Lobby System

Contagion supports P2P lobby sessions using Steam Networking. Joining dedicated servers as a party trough the lobby is also supported.

Updated Hammer Editor

Supports real time 3D skybox and fog rendering.

Wwise Spatial Audio

Contagion uses Wwise instead of Miles as its audio engine to create more immersive ambience across the levels.

Game Modes

Escape

Team of up to 8 players and progress through a level, fighting through zombies while completing various mission objectives with the ultimate goal of escaping the map.

Extraction

Explore a location and rescue a number of A.I.-controlled non-player character survivors.

Hunted

The last player that survives is the victor, but watch out for players that returned as the living dead.

Flatline

Survive against the horde of zombies that increase per wave until the escape is available. Flatline is the only game mode that is arcade-like, where you earn money for every zombie you kill and use said money to buy new equipment from the store (phone)

Panic!

Similar to Escape game mode, but in this mode all zombies will sprint towards the players and will only be able to infect if they manage to fully grapple (bite) the player. This is the only game mode that allows for players to be freed from the grapple by spamming the SPACE bar.
