Usage

Use this template on user page if the user has been banned/blocked from editing or using talk pages.

Parameters

Parameter	Description	Example	Result
No Parameters	Use this if the user has been banned for multiple reasons.	{{Banned user}}	This user has been banned for an unspecified reason, such as spamming, vandalism, copyright violations, sockpuppetry, edit warring, trolling or harassment, and/or violating the Valve Developer Community's Terms of Use along with other misbehavior.
`{{{reason}}}`	Select reasons why this user has been banned. Icons will be also changed by the same parameter.	Violating the Terms Of Use: {{Banned user\|reason=termsofuse} Edit war/Disputed edit: {{Banned user\|reason=editwar}} Spam: {{Banned user\|reason=spam}} Sockpuppet (username not specified): {{Banned user\|reason=sock}} Bad or offensive usernames: {{Banned user\|reason=username}} Vandalism: {{Banned user\|reason=vandal}} or {{Banned user\|reason=vandalism}} Copyright: {{Banned user\|reason=copyright}}	This user has been banned for violating the Valve Developer Community's Terms of Use. This user has been banned for repeatedly edit warring and/or making disputed edits. This user has been banned for spamming pages and/or advertising. This user has been banned because it is a sockpuppet account. This user has been banned because their username clearly violates our username policy (meaning that it is profane, threatens, attacks or impersonates another person), or suggests that this user do not intend to contribute positively to Valve Developer Community. For more information, see username policy on Wikipedia. This user has been banned for repeatedly vandalizing pages. This user has been banned for repeated copyright violations If the copyright claims was later found to be false (such as "Fair Use", using "Public Domain" content), this user will be unbanned, and the user who made the false copyright claim will be warned and/or banned.
`{{{user}}}`	If used with reason=sock, set the username of the user who just recently got banned for ban evasions or creating sockpuppet account for inappropriate purposes.	{{Banned user\|reason=sock\|user=[[User:Example]]}}	This user has been banned because it is a sockpuppet account of User:Example.
`{{{nocat}}}`	To prevent the adding of the Category:Banned Users category. Does not change anything visibly. Only use this if you want to preview the template.	{{Banned user\|nocat=1}}	Same as the first example, but without Category:Banned Users (and previously, Category:Banned Spammers) category being added to the page.
