Hi everyone, im Darthkillyou (MUHUHEHEHEHEHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAI!!!!!</evillaughter>) and I currently live in New York, USA.

One of My VMF's
My personal 1337 Wall of Doom.

I started using SDK (or more specifically, hammer) some time ago. (a few months, give or take) In fact, I had no clue that hammer existed until I randomly stumbled upon it while getting bored of the model viewer.

Note.png NOTE: If you read the section below, you might agree that I need to be much less enthusiastic about certain things. (Don't worry, I am very serious most of the time!)

To the Void With You!!!

Before hammer, I created interesting environments within Half-Life 2 single-player maps using console commands, like "npc_create npc_vortigaunt" and stuff like that.
Then, I realized that I was getting bored of getting thousands upon thousands of Combines, Citizens, Vortigaunts ("TO THE VOID WITH YOU!!!") and Zombies to fight each other... endlessly... over... and over... and... over...... again.
Then, just in time, SOURCE SDK CAME ALONG!!!! WOOT!!!!! At first, I just used the model viewer for about one hour, and quickly got bored of it. (Ironically, I find it very useful nowadays!) Then, I randomly clicked on something titled *reads slowly* "hhhaaammmmmmeeerrr". I quickly learned what it was and ZIPP!!!-ed through the beginner tutorials. (I actually didn't know that there were intermediate tutorials, so I never read any of them. I figured out alot of stuff on my own.) And, now, *drumroll* here I am!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!</overuseof"!"'s> </excessiveamountsofenthusiasm></hyperactivity>

Note.png ANOTHER NOTE: It is very possible that I will drastically revise this section due to its excessive amount of enthusiasm.

I guess I could be called "new-ish", as I still have stuff to learn. BUT, I am not a complete idiot who doesn't know what an NPC or a crowbar is.

I am currently working on my first large map (sp for HL2, and not modded, im afraid. Mabye later I will think about HL2:DM or mabye even CS:S mapping). It seems to have quite a few bugs in it right now...

Also, if time permits, I might just think about a mod... Although definitely not anytime in the near future.

Note.png AND YET ANOTHER NOTE: Don't ask about the name Darthkillyou. Its origin goes very far back.

Retarded idea

I just thought up a crazy idea today. The idea is for me to create a map that completely breaks every (major) map dev rule in the book. For example, deliberately caused leaks, use no func_details, carve multiple cylinders (at varying depths) into large walls, etc. etc. Basically, a map that completely sucks. Just contributing to the many useless and crazy ideas in the world.

MyMap

Here's my first map ever. I'm a little concerned about the resulting filesize... it's pretty large, and any level transitions would completely mess up gameplay... so feel free to give some suggestions.

Some outdoor screenshots of my current map:

An indoor shot of the middle platform:

A Combineified room:

Bland, isn't it? Does anyone have any suggestions?

Meanwhile, in a completely different part of the map,

This is another part of the map where the player ends up after he/she fights through the outdoor part. (At least, that's what I'm planning.) I'm sorry if I somehow skipped or ended up doing several trillion map developing steps out of order while creating the indoor and/or outdoor areas of the map.

A nice little room with some water:

A nice, warm-feeling maintenance hallway:
Mymap0008.jpg

This is a hallway that I added Black Mesa (East?) details to. I ended up playing through d1_eli_01 several times to try to get the feeling correct. (It's still not finished)

Hallway before Black Mesa-fication. Very, berry bland.
Hallway after Black Mesa-fication. (Looks much better, now, doesn't it?)

OMG!!! ITS A LAB!!! JUST LEIK THE ONES FROM HL1!!!!!
Access. Denied. Look familiar?

A Very Heavy Work in Progress:
