VGUI (oder, technisch, "VGUI2(en)"), wird zur dynamischen Anzeige von 2D Bildern in Source verwendet. Dies schließt Dialoge, Buttons, das HUD(en) und auch die Oberfläche des Bildschirms und Oberflächen in der 3D-Welt. Es ist Plattformunabhängig und Unicode-konform.

VGUI2-Formulare können technisch gesehen auf dem Windwos und Mac desktop, aber auch Ingame dargestellt werden.
