- Hi everyone, im Darthkillyou (MUHUHAHAHAHAHAI) and I currently live in New York, USA.
I started using SDK (or more specifically, hammer) some time ago. (a few months, give or take) In fact, I had no clue that hammer existed until I randomly stumbled upon it while getting bored of the model viewer.
NOTE: If you read the section below, you might agree that I need to be much less enthusiastic about lots of things. (Don't worry, I can be very serious at certain times!)
To the Void With You!!!
Before hammer, I created interesting environments within Half-Life 2 single-player maps using console commands, like "npc_create npc_vortigaunt" and stuff like that.
Then, I realized that I was getting bored of getting thousands upon thousands of Combines, Citizens, Vortigaunts ("TO THE VOID WITH YOU!!!") and Zombies to fight each other... endlessly... over... and over... and... over...... again.
Then, just in time, SOURCE SDK CAME ALONG!!!! WOOT!!!!! At first, I just used the model viewer for about one hour, and quickly got bored of it. :( Then, I randomly clicked on something titled *reads slowly* "hhhaaammmmmmeeerrr". I quickly learned what it was and ZIPP!!!-ed through the beginner tutorials. (I actually didn't know that there were intermediate tutorials, so I never read any of them. I figured out alot of stuff on my own.) And, now, *drumroll* here I am!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!</overuseof"!"'s></excessiveamountsofenthusiasm></hyperactivity>
I guess I could be called "new-ish", as I still have stuff to learn. BUT, I am not a complete idiot who doesn't know what an NPC or a crowbar is.
I am currently working on my first large map (sp for HL2, and not modded, im afraid. Mabye later I will think about HL2:DM or mabye even CS:S mapping). It seems to have quite a few bugs in it right now...
Also, if time permits, I might just think about a mod... Although not anytime in the near future.

NOTE: Don't ask about the name Darthkillyou. Its origin goes very far back.

Bland, isn't it? Does anyone have any suggestions?

This is another part of the map where the player ends up after he/she fights through the outdoor part. (At least, that's what I'm planning.) I'm sorry if I somehow skipped or ended up doing several trillion map developing steps out of order while creating the indoor and/or outdoor areas of the map.
A nice little room with some water:
A nice, red room filled with more water:
Note: I'm sorry if this screenshot is blurry... because it is on my monitor, and I have no idea why.
A pretty destroyed cafeteria with a gaping hole to the side:
A nice, warm-feeling maintenance hallway:
