What is it?

Collaborate is an upcoming Half-Life 2 multiplayer mod. It will feature 4 game modes with different gameplay-styles, which will mainly be players vs NPCs, with some friendly rivalry between the players. The main goal is to offer an experience much like HL2 singleplayer, only with other players and new content. No dumb killing here.

It will feature custom high-quality maps in the HL2-styles. Some parts of the mod are still in the planning phase. We want to return all enemies from HL2, from helicopters to hoppers. Also, teamplay is very much needed in this mod because Rambo-style will not do any good in our maps. The NPCs will be hard to kill so when you are alone, you won't get far. It will also feature non-combat scripted scenes.

Storyline

The mod will feature per-map-storylines. Each map has also his own style, which gives the mappers much freedom in designing. Each map will have a storyline that fits in the main Half-life story, including a timeline to indicate in which time it plays.

Teams

For the gamemodes that will feature teamplay, there are 2 teams: Team Red and Team Blue.

Game modes

  • Conquest
Teamplay: 2 teams need to capture all points in a map. Every point in the map can be captured by both teams at the same time. To capture a point, player(s) should remain alive at the point for 15 seconds. After a point has been captured, it is also a spawnpoint. All points need to be captured in a certain order. When players of the team die often, the point will become neutral again and will players have to capture it again. When a team has captured the last point, the map ends.
  • Deathmatch
A simple gamemode. Go through the map with your friends and kill all the NPCs that try to stop you, together with other players. The strength of this gamemode will be the gameplay and storyline. Will you need to escape from a Combine prison or infiltrate one?
  • Objective
Teamplay: Complete the objective and it's subobjectives, which is different for each map. The team who helped the most to get the objective, wins.
  • Free for all
