Overview
Somewhere in Utah
Critical Mass is a single player Source mod, beginning full production in November 2008. A four-player coop mode may be implemented depending on the modability of Left4Dead. This mod has no storyline connection to that of the Half-Life franchise, or any Valve product. The story is rich and polished, see the official website for more elaboration. In short, you play the role of Logan Bowes, a captain and squad leader in a future military. The squad consists of four characters, so if the coop mode does get made, each player will fill the roles of one of the four squad members.

"Check it out!" I recall Michael saying as he showed me a basic story and map for Critical Mass. I was literally stunned at the insane amount of detail and customization he put into this little map.

I crashed. But...where? Whats...My name? I see the escape pod that I just exited burning behind me out of the corner of my eye, and these 3 strangers are helping me...Thankfully.
Features
Storytelling is paramount, so any resources not available in any existing .gcf in order to tell the story will be created for the mod. The HUD screen elements will be very minimal, again to reduce distraction from the storyline. Having said that, features will include:
- All new, beautiful environments
- Original storyline
- Custom weapons
- Custom "HUD"
- Secrets(Can't elaborate, obviously)

History
The mod started in the year 2000(for Goldsource at the time). An entire short novel was written years ago and has undergone polishing ever since. Once the story was established, a version was adapted for a video game. So now finally in November of 2008, we are ready to begin production and recruit a team. The official website has more history information in the 'Story' section.

Openings
We currently have the following member needs for this mod:
- THE Coder. We only need one, as the coding changes are not going to be extensive at all. Only a few simple to intermediate alterations are required to meet proof of concept. I'd do it myself but I don't have/can't afford MS Studio. I will be able to clearly communicate the exact changes needed using developers' terminology.
- Character modeler(s) - to achieve models of the characters from the story.
- Animator(s) - to achieve actions/emotions performed by NPCs as script requires.
- Weapon modeler(s) - self explanatory - design to concept
- Prop modeler(s) - create anything from mundane objects that may logically exist in the mod's environments, to tackling one or more of the vehicles that the script calls for.
- Level Design support - To back me up as lead mapper, any map that I don't personally make will be assigned in a well informed manner, you will receive a version of the script for that map along with basic layout, models, and material guidelines.
- Voice Actors - If you are interested in a voice actor position, very soon I will post (on the Mod's website) a list of the characters that need voicing. The list will include as much information as I can provide to be helpful in making choices such as which character(s) you're interested in, and how to play them.
