Note:There should always be a way to get past a barnacle without killing it, unless it is part of a puzzle. Most players will rarely get caught by barnacles, if at all; however, don't force the player to get caught!
Note:Some keyvalues, spawnflags, effect flags, inputs, or outputs might not affect an NPC, based on the functionality and coding of the NPC.

Entity Description
Stationary ceiling-mounted 'fishing' monster. They were originally devised in Half-Life as a simple way to limit movement in levels, and their function remains relatively the same in Half-Life 2.
