grammar, the view, and the formatting.--Gear 11:46, 11 Jun 2008 (PDT)
What is wrong with the grammar. I don't see anything, and why don't you fix it then. Was it you who deleted it? I spent ages making that thing, and you just delete it from the list. Unsigned comment added by Craziestdan (talkcontribs) Always sign your posts with four tildes (~~~~)
chill man, its not that you spent ages on it, but all this can already be done by making a mod, and just changing the gameinfo.txt, there is absolutely no reason to use GCFscape or anything else, you should find out more about mod making and it's process before you start making tutorials on the wiki.I'm saying to delete this page mainly because its an amount of information not needed on something already covered. This is like making a mod named Portal, nothing different.Sorry man, I know you spent alot of time on this, but you need to search the Wiki first!--Gear
Right i understand, i dont mind it being deleted then, but my Portal mod template i made for Portal here: Portal mod template should be left alone. And if you feel a mod template is useless, then why is this one allowed here? I would apreciate it if you left the portal mod template alone, as it doesnt provide usefullness. And has already had quite a few downloads, proving its needed. Some people dont know how to make mod folders manually, with GCF scape and stuff, so the portal mod tmeplate should be left there. But this page, feel free to delete, just please leave the template. Dan.S 23:25, 27th Jun 2008 (GMT)

Useful link

I have found this resource to be indispensable in creating of a mod version of Portal: The Flash Version Map-Pack. I think that this article should be cleaned, reformatted, and retained in the Developer Wiki and not deleted. --Nz17 22:57, 4 Jul 2008 (PDT)

Glad to hear Nz17 :) Portal TFV is a fun pack, and i always thought it should be put in a mod, rather then a large map pack. Nice job :) -When i get time ill try to clean this up a bit, but anyone else feel free to do so too. --Dan.S 16:00 6 Jul 2008 (GMT)

Error

Did anyone else here see an error in "Setting up Source SDK to work with your mod"? The problem is, you had the GameData0 set to halflife2.fgd, which means people wouldn't be able to place stuff in source SDK like a portalgun, autoportals, and all that stuff.--Paddymay 22:57, 23 September 2009 (UTC) No worries though, I just fixed that section.--Paddymay 22:57, 23 September 2009 (UTC)

Needs simplified

I'm gonna try to simplify this later today. --Omnicoder 10:30, 10 September 2010 (UTC

Rewriting the article

I just practically rewrote the thing. It's up to someone else to decide whether it's good enough. I got rid of the use of GCFScape. --Anotheruser67 09:34, 15 December 2011 (PDT)

Modifying binaries

What is this part saying you cannot modify binaries? When creating the mod, the source files are copied to the selected directory and can be edited and recompiled. --Pichubolt090 12:52, 6 April 2012 (PDT)

You can't get the source code for the Portal binaries, only for out-of-date builds of Half-Life 2. Also, this tutorial doesn't use the Mod Wizard; I've never been able to get it to work with Portal, anyway. --Anotheruser67 22:06, 23 July 2012 (PDT)

Edited..

Just make a edit to organize stuff up and some other minor edits. :) --A R M YD E L A Y (Talk!) 13:10, 18 July 2012 (PDT)

Doesn't Work

I've done every stage on the page, but i have no way to run the mod and when I try to run hammer for my configuration it says that GameInfo.txt isn't present in the folder I specified, which it is. Can anyone help?

I just installed Portal and I'll step through the article and see what happens. I'm curious about the line "i have no way to run the mod". An entry in Steam's Library is created for the mod as long as the game folder exists and it has a gameinfo.txt file (if the file isn't written "correctly", Steam will use the folder name, so something should be there). However, when you modify the file system like this, you need to restart Steam to see the changes. So, possibly two questions: Did you restart Steam and, if so, where did you put the game folder? - Deekr 12:02, 30 August 2012 (PDT)
I stepped through the article and things seem fine. Maybe the previous comment addressed your issue? - Deekr 16:43, 30 August 2012 (PDT)

Cleanup

I implemented a Cleanup for this article. From what I gathered, the page has been marked with a Cleanup for some years. I suggest modification to the page be kept to a minimum for the time being, or at least discussed on this talk page first. - Deekr 23:19, 30 August 2012 (PDT)

Bad choice of words. By modification I mean overhaul. If there are errors or there is additional useful information, I (and most likely the community, as well) would appreciate it if you added it. - Deekr 13:23, 1 September 2012 (PDT)

Command prompt?

... Is gone. Why on earth was it there? Things that have already been said in plain English, repeated in a nonexistent command language? Maybe it would make sense if it were a REAL language, like the DOS command prompt that actually comes with Windows, but it's a made-up language that just serves to confuse things. I removed it.

Honestly, I can see why this was rewritten again. I thought I should leave the cleanup tag on there when I rewrote it for the first time, to let the community judge if it was actually decent. But I genuinely think that my version was better (from a serious unbiased point of view), and the worst part was that command prompt. --Anotheruser67 00:07, 6 February 2013 (PST)
