Fragmotion is a small modeling and animation pack particulary well suited for handeling .smd files as it can have several animations loaded at once and has about the same limitations and features.

HL2 .smd is native to Fragmotion +6.0 and a .vtf importer (by Wolf/NoBody) comes with +7.0.
