Overview

Half-Life 2: City 7 Toronto Conflict, is the first thesis project from the Game Design program at George Brown College. Using the Valve source engine, students have been challenged to create an expansion pack based on the Half-Life story and the city of Toronto.

This Mod takes place during the Half-life 2 timeline in Toronto, Canada. The remaining survivors form a resistance and rise up to retake what's left of their city. This story presently features Gordon Freeman as the main character; stuck in Toronto due to a teleporting accident in Kleiner’s lab. Explore what has become of city 7 in areas like Dundas square, Eaton Center, Mel Lastman square, St.Michelles hospital and TTC system under the Combine rule.

Originally we wanted to create new characters apart of the rebel resistance with unique story explaining what was happing in this city. Given that we had a small development and one semester of thesis time, we manage to get halfway to the CN tower and already created 1 1/2 to 2 hours of fun, action packed game play. If we get a good response from this project we’ll revive it and find more people to help develop and finish the mod to the Combine CN tower, with the new characters, story, weapons and Combine enemies we initially envisioned in Toronto.

This Mod will be released online by the end of March 2007. George Brown College will be hosting VORTEX 2007: Game Competition and Seminars starting March 15 and we’ll be showcasing this thesis project along with it. More information about the showcasing, competition, and the game design program will be posted in one week on our current site.
