I'm not a mapper, but I play one on TV.  I have decided difficulty finding my way around this place, too.
This Wiki didn't degenerate into illiterate headbangings as I initially thought it would.  Very good!  I still staunchly oppose the use of a Wiki for documentations, but so long as it ''works'', it must be hailed as a ''good thing'' in its own right.  Let us rejoice.  I'll bring the chocolate.


Have some [http://www.editlife.net tutorials and such]--I've got plenty.  Also, nine out of ten botanists agree that [http://www.editlife.net/files/customfgd.php my custom FGDs] help to prevent cancer and whiten teeth.  All with absolutely 0 Calories!

I've never taken a coding class in my life, and still I want to make a mod and improve Valve's compiler. You'd think I would realise the obvious futility of such endeavours.

As for me, I keep [http://www.editlife.net EditLife.net]--a wealth of knowledge:
* Mapping/texturing/lighting/modeling/[etc.] tutorials (fat-free and low-carb)
* Custom FGDs (may retard forest fires and stampedes of oxen)
* Mod Center, for mod-specific tutorials and files (+5 Ice Spells)
* Community forum (it sure beats drinking soured milk)
* Fruit (if all the raindrops were lemon drops and gumdrops...)
