The Room Setup Tool is used to define the boundaries of your physical space. The tool (and this documentation) is still in development, so please use the Discussion Forum for questions and feedback.

Defining your play space:

  1. First, set up your VR headset.
  2. Launch VR Monitor.
  3. Right click VR Monitor window > Run Room Setup.
  4. On your monitor you should see a window displaying the current view from the headset.
  5. Move the headset and controllers to a location where they are all positionally tracked.
  6. Put on the headset and pick up the controllers.
  7. On controller is a menu and the other is a pointer. Click the menu button to start.
  8. Click the menu button to Reset.
  9. Stand in the center of your playspace facing the primary direction while clicking the button to continue.
  10. Drag the floor height node down. (If you set the menu controller on the ground it can help for judging the correct floor height.)
  11. Drag the boundaries to the walls or edge of tracking zone.
  12. The Safe-Zone (walking area) is shown in green on the floor and automatically centered. You can move the Tracking Center and Safe-Zone by dragging the blue circle at chest height.
  13. Rotation and scale of the Safe-Zone can be modified with the node at the edge of the blue circle. This also affects the primary facing direction of the tracked space.
  14. Use the controller menu to Save.
  15. (Known Bug) Sometimes the setting will shift after saving. If this happens, restart Room Setup before making any changes.

Work in progress:

  • Improved interface, hints, and visuals.
  • Editing bounds with no tracked input devices.
  • Being able to set up the wall boundaries.
  • Marking up other objects and physical positions.
