99 Bolts is a single-player modification for Half-Life 2: Episode 2.

The mod will be an action/survival FPS. The theme for the mod will be the extended use of the crossbow; once the player obtains the crossbow, he will have only 99 crossbow bolts for the rest of the game. The player must use the crossbow wisely to preserve ammo and eventually assassinate various individuals in the mod.

The mod will be set in the Half-Life 2 universe: several years after the Seven Hour War, but several years before City 17 is destroyed. The primary location will be a vast expanse of nuclear wasteland on the outskirts of a Combine-controlled city. The player will have to traverse the wasteland and infiltrate the city to destroy the chain of command in the city.

The mod does not have a time limit or release date at this time. In fact, it may never be finished. It is a labor of love, not a resume booster.

The project may migrate to an updated version of Source, if a more useful version comes out.

Stay tuned for more from 99 Bolts.
