hlcoders was originally created by Sean Hanna and was hosted by the mailing list company Topica. The subscribers to list were eventaully subjected to signifcant spam, so much so that in late 2001 Erik Johnson of Valve hijacked the hlcoders@topica.com mailing list and Valve started hosting hlcoders themselves.

hlcoders was originally created by Sean Hanna and was hosted by the mailing list company Topica. The subscribers to list were eventaully subjected to signifcant spam, so much so that in late 2001 Erik Johnson of Valve hijacked the hlcoders@topica.com mailing list and Valve started hosting hlcoders themselves.
