| ==Scrolling bug in IE8==

| I don't know if anyone else uses IE8, but there's this nasty scrolling bug that I keep getting here. Sometimes when I'm typing or pasting text into the edit window, the edit window scrolls upward each time something is entered. So after typing about three words it's scrolled up enough I can't see what I'm typing anymore. The problem seems to happen more often and slightly differently during pasting; I'll paste something and it scrolls up about a page, but if I type anything it scrolls back down to where I was typing.

| I had these exact problems with Wikipedia when IE8 first came out; I had thought they patched IE to fix the problems but apparently they patched Wikipedia to fix the problem. So I think having an outdated version of MediaWiki is the source of the problem and updating would eliminate it? Anyone else experience this issue? | :I also experience this, ever since I switched to Windows 7, and it's really bothering me. I thought it applied to every text edit field - I don't remember. | ::Yeah, I also have Windows 7. I don't recall ever having the issue with any other large text boxes but I can't think of anything else I do on the web with such large textboxes. | This may be a lot to ask for, but it'd be helpful if there were translated versions of cleanup tags, like <nowiki>{{cleanup:ru}}</nowiki>, <nowiki>{{ToTranslate:ru}}</nowiki>, etc. so we can tag pages in their own languages. Say a Russian-only editor needs to tag a Russian page for cleanup. Not much help if he tags it with an English-written tag :P I'm sure this has been brought up before, though, and I understand translators are hard to come by. | I'm starting to find a lot of random Steam games on this Wiki that are not relevant to Valve, Source, or VDC development in any way, including titles such as [[Advent Rising]] and [[Wolfenstein 3D]]. I'm also afraid these might set a precedent of adding every single game on Steam to this Wiki. Should such articles be marked for deletion? | I am desperately trying to get the transwiki version of wikipedia's [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Navbox navbox template] to work on VDC. It's one of the most useful wiki templates ever written (and consequently one of the most widely used). I think it would add a lot to articles by allowing users to navigate through certain projects more effectively.

| Unfortunately there seems to be some dependacies required for it to work. It has special classes which need to be added to [[MediaWiki:Common.css]] and collapse code that needs to be added to [[MediaWiki:Common.js]]. Both of those pages are protected (for understandable reasons). I am really keen to get this template working if possible; as I said before, it's a great template and I think it will make browsing the VDC a more pleasant experience.

| On a slightly unrelated note, while I was investigating this matter I was having a chat with the guys over at MediaWiki. Apparently there are several security issues with our version of MediaWiki. | : It is unlikely we're going to add such a complex template to the site very soon. We try to avoid such complex templates to reduce editor barrier-for-entry and keep the site running smoothly. | Attempting to upload an image yields an error: ''Could not rename file "/tmp/php9UFXzc" to "public/d/df/Puzzle_Maker_XOR_gate.png".'' A very brief google states that the problem is incorrect folder permissions and that it can be fixed via chmod 777-ing the folders (& subfolders) within /public/. I have also had this problem with the folders /public/4/42 and /public/6/66, and another user also reported this issue on [[User_talk:JeffLane|Jeff Lane's talk page]] with folders public/a/a4.
