It wouldn't work with Half-Life 2 (it looks at OpenGL, HL2 is DirectX) and yes, assuming that Valve checks for non-standard OpenGL DLLs, you would get banned by VAC. ::Hahahaha! If they said that, then Valve is lying. I know of a few people who got VAC banned for running Source games under Wine, a compatibility layer that lets Windows apps run on Linux. I think Wine's whitelisted nowadays, but it's possible that someone at Valve could jump the gun and ban you, and they can't undo that. Basically, if you're using this, play offline.
