Portal: Revolution is a fan-made campaign of Portal 2, taking place soon after GLaDOS's demise in the original Portal.
Set inbetween Portal and Portal 2, Portal: Revolution tells a brand new story using new characters. You play as a test subject who is awoken by a personality sphere called Stirling and join his mission to find a powerful device capable of restoring Aperture to its former glory.
Technology-wise, this is the first Source game released to use the Strata Source engine branch, which is a heavily modified version of Source engine that combines the code of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Portal 2 and add various new features to bring it closer to modern standards. This, along with having licensed Source developers, allowed it to introduce many mechanics and improvements to the engine to create an experience that would be impossible in Portal 2. The codebase was forked from Portal 2: Community Edition's around October of 2023. ^[1]

Tip:

Portal: Revolution is "99% P2CE", according to the developers; as such, those looking to make mods for this game may wish to build their mods on

Portal 2: Community Edition (when it releases) instead, which also will have proper Workshop support.
