Usage

This template is used in tandem with {{Cite}} and {{References}} to mimic citation.

This version of the template is based on {{Citation}}, modified to cite tweets posted on Logo for X X (Twitter).

Parameters

Parameter Description Status
{{{cite id}}} The id should match the cite number from the {{cite}} template. If {{cite}} uses "1" then {{{cite id}}} should also be "1". Required
{{{last}}} The author's surname or last name. Don't use with the author parameter. Suggested
{{{first}}} The author's first or given name(s). Suggested
{{{author}}} The name of the publisher. Omit terms such as Publishers, Co., Inc., Ltd., etc., but retain the words Books or Press. If specified, overrides both {{{last}}} and {{{first}}}. Suggested
{{{handle}}} Twitter account name, without the @ Required
{{{number}}} Numerical ID of the tweet Required
{{{date}}} Date of referenced source. Can be full date (day, month, and year) or partial date (month and year, season and year, or year).
Wiki Note:Please enter dates using this format: day month name, year (e.g. 31 July, 2025) to make sure it's consistent.
Required
{{{title}}} Partial or entire content of the tweet, optionally including hashtags (#), at signs (@), and links. Note: double quote marks (") should be replaced with single quote marks (') because the entire title will display surrounded by double quotes. Required
{{{quote}}} Relevant text quoted from the source. Displays enclosed in quotes. Optional
{{{location}}} If this work was published in a specific town or state, usually for books or newspapers, use this to specify the location Optional
{{{url-status}}} Current link status, if its a dead link, or is it still active. Current parameters are: dead, live, and deviated. Suggested
{{{archive-url}}} The URL of an archived snapshot of a tweet. Typically used to refer to services such as Internet Archive and Megalodon (日本語 (ja) only, use translate). For archivers, it is highly recommended to archive a tweet in both archiver services, in case one of them was shutdown or the URLs gets excluded by the services.

Recommended archive sites:

Note.pngNote:Internet Archive may have issues archiving or display certain tweets. Try using Megalodon or other archive sites instead.
Warning.pngWarning:Do not use archive.today, as the owner of the website hosted a DDoS script that attacks another website every time you ended up on Captcha verification page. Normally, some adblockers like uBlock Origin will block this script. If the archived page is only available on archive.today, try to rearchive them on other archivers. If for some reasons you cannot re-archive the page, put a {{Warning}} template on it, warn users before accessing archived page via archive.today.
Suggested
{{{archive-date}}} Archive service snapshot date Suggested
{{{access-date}}} The date when the editors recently visited the cited website. Suggested
