Displacement Mesh allowed_verts example image: In Half Life 2
On its own this image is not special. However, if you look at this pair of displacement maps in Hammer you'll see that it "should" have a gaping hole, but due to allowed_verts disabling the vertex that causes the hole, the hole is stitched up by the game.
