Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Counter-Strike: Global Offensive was released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on the same day as PC version on Steam. Both console versions are only available digitally.

The Xbox 360 version was initially available for purchase with at least 1,200 Microsoft Points. As Microsoft Points has been discontinued, the game has been sold for $14.99 USD prior to being delisted. The PS3 version was also sold for the same price ($14.99 USD) as the Xbox 360.

Like previous Source titles (such as The Orange Box) that have been ported to console, the console version of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive was later abandoned after it's launch, and stopped receiving updates around early 2013. Operation Payback and Arms Deals update, two first major CS:GO updates to be released in that year, was exclusive to PC only.

Between March - June 2023, prior to the release of Counter-Strike 2 (which completely replaced the PC version of CS:GO on Sep 27, 2023) the Xbox 360 version of the game became no longer available for purchase on Xbox Live Marketplace (even prior to Xbox Live Marketplace shutting down on July 29, 2024). As of July 29, 2024, the demo version is also no longer available as Xbox 360 Marketplace has been shut down.

Existing customers who previously have purchased the game can still play the game.

The game is backward compatible and emulated on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, without any enhancements (aka Xbox One X & Series X/S Enhanced) such as resolution increase, however it is also no longer available to purchase in Microsoft Store.

Key Differences

  • The console version requires you to buy the game (for $14.99 on Xbox 360, formerly 1,200 Microsoft Points), as opposed to the PC version since 2018, which has been Free to Play with the optional ($14.99) Prime Status Upgrade that cannot be refunded.
Later between March and June 2023, the Xbox 360 version of CS:GO was discontinued quietly on Xbox Live Marketplace, even prior to Xbox Marketplace shut down on July 2024 and the PC version of CS:GO has been discontinued in favor of Counter-Strike 2. Initially after CS2 release, users on PC can still can play CS:GO by selecting the "csgo_legacy" beta build on Counter-Strike 2, but as of March 3, 2026, CS:GO on PC is now available separately, located on different AppID, and no longer requires CS2 to be installed to play. Users who already brought the game (Xbox 360 only) can also play the game.
  • Render resolution up to 1280x720 and 30 FPS locked framerate.
  • Using FXAA anti-aliasing (both consoles).
  • Xbox 360 Xbox Live compatibility
    • Server on the Xbox 360 version remains active as of June 2025,[1] while the PC servers (Matchmaking only) has been shut down after the release of CS2 and end of support for CS:GO in Jan 1, 2024.
  • PlayStation 3 version has Steam integration, support Keyboard & Mouse and PlayStation Move controller. Like Portal 2, the online service on the PS3 version was quietly shut down (or stops working) in 2018.
    • Note.pngNote:While the PS3 services for Portal 2 was restored, CS:GO on the other hand, unlike Portal 2, uses entirely different, separate AppIDs (720), which nobody owns on Steam.[2] Along with CS:GO's PS3 Steam services needs to be researched, CS:GO's PS3 Steam support was yet to be revived.
  • The game has received very minimal updates, currently runs on old version of CS:GO engine branch, and remains a snapshot of the game around early 2013
(prior to Operation Payback and Arms Deal update for the PC version).
    • PlayStation 3 version received it's only, single 14MB update (version 1.01), most likely bug fixes, while the Xbox 360 had none.
