Concerning Portal 2 Level Creation

I noticed you changed Hard Light Bridge to Hard Light Surface (bridge, wall); this is a bit of a nitpick, but in game they are referred to as Hard Light Bridges. I propose we try to keep the names of the elements as consistant with the game as possible (obviously providing descriptions as necessary). Thoughts? --Nacimota Talk | Contributions 17:26, 26 April 2011 (UTC)

Well, the entities refer to it as a wall projector, and it can function as both a wall, floor (or bridge, if you prefer), and ceiling, so I thought surface was most appropriate. Change it if you really want, just add a redirect please. --Nick Davidowicz 17:37, 26 April 2011 (UTC)
Yup, redirects are a given, I'm just trying to determine what the most appropriate title for the actual article is before creating it --Nacimota Talk | Contributions 17:53, 26 April 2011 (UTC)
Yeah, I'm setting things up to use the official titles, and redirects on the shorthand pages. The only exception being Hard Light Bridge, because in the game, when it's vertical it's a wall, not a bridge, and I want the page to cover both use cases. --Nick Davidowicz 18:10, 26 April 2011 (UTC)
Okay, that seems like a fair compromise --Nacimota Talk | Contributions 18:14, 26 April 2011 (UTC)

Excursion Funnel

Hey, sorry to bother you again. I noticed to rewrote Excursion Funnel from scratch? After some thought, I do agree with some of your edits (see also section was a bit redundant), but I think you've removed too much detail from the article. It's shorter now but I don't think that should necessarily be the priority. For instance my revision states that a negative value will reverse the flow of the funnel and gives two example values. In yours you say that reversing the flow can be achieved by inverting the value. That makes perfect sense, but I don't think everyone who reads it will understand what you mean by "invert". Another example is changing "game mechanic" to "puzzle element"; I chose the former terminology because it isn't always used as an element of a puzzle (a couple of times towards the end of the singleplayer campaign it is simply a method of traversing to the next level).

Anyway I already posted on your page the other day and I was really hesitant to post here again because I didn't want to give you the impression that I was deliberately harassing you or whatever. I just think this page would be best at a middle-ground between our two revisions. Cheers --Nacimota Talk | Contributions 05:24, 29 April 2011 (UTC)

I was just trying to make some edits for brevity, on little sleep, and I guess I ended up rewording the whole article. My initial idea for all these articles was a quick description and usage case at the top, and then a detailed tutorial on implementation taking most of the focus at the bottom. I'm always receptive to discussion, always ask away. --Nick D. 19:05, 29 April 2011 (UTC)
Alright, I made a revision to clear up some (in my opinion) ambiguous text. Please let me know what you think:

Sky List naming convention

How do you figure that "List of Portal 2 Skies" adheres to naming convention when all other pages have it like "Team Fortress 2 Sky List"? --User:Thingy Person

List articles should always begin with "List of". I'll change the other ones if I get around to it. --Nick D. 13:03, 14 May 2011 (UTC)
Why? Since when? And has this been agreed on? Thingy Person 18:17, 14 May 2011 (UTC)
It's the Wikimedia standard, and most of the pages on the VDC seem to follow it, the ones you mentioned being an exception. --Nick D. 19:43, 14 May 2011 (UTC)

Button->Switch?

Why the change?—Mattshu 18:57, 6 July 2011 (PDT)

I'm trying to move it to Button, but no luck so far. --Nick D. 19:09, 6 July 2011 (PDT)

Goldsource Games

Why you deleted the Golsource games in the Level Design List? This is the "Valve Developer Community" not the "Source Engine Developer Community", the Goldsource Engine is from Valve too. --Dmx6 07:38, 8 July 2011 (PDT)

I'm aware. The wiki has had a Source focus for a long time now. Plus, the two subcategories that I took off the portal aren't developed much at all. I didn't think it would be an issue or missed, but if you want, you can put them back and I'll throw up a discussion on the talk page. --Nick D. 18:15, 8 July 2011 (PDT)
Yes, this is Valve Developer Community, not Source Developer Community. SiPlus 08:17, 7 September 2011 (PDT)

Wiring pages in the Category namespace was a terrible idea as they are not used by default for Special:Search
