https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/HL2World Supports a prohibited subject? What purpose does it supposed to have? I think the purpose it already has is OK. Is the only purpose suppose to relate to Valve Hammer Editor? What prohibited subject? -- Freeman12393 (talk)
I'm sorry, does this all supposed to be about modding on this wiki? Is there a rule on the wiki that tells that this isn't allowed? -- Freeman12393 (talk)
Do you think this is nice? You didn't even notify me via my talk page. I'm very sorry, is there a rule somewhere that says that that page isn't allowed? Prohibited? I want to see it to not do this mistake again. -- Freeman12393 (talk)
Oh, right, I'm forgetting, they said 'mercilessly' update my page, but I think this may apply if there's a rule like this somewhere, you know? -- Freeman12393 (talk) https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Half-Life_3 - here as well - what purpose does it suppose to have? Is it a rule? -- Freeman12393 (talk)

I assume you're referring to the deletion notices I put on your articles for Half-Life 3, Half-Life 2: Beta, and HL2World. Adding so many deletion notices on so many articles at once was indeed a pretty drastic action which wasn't very comfortable for me, as I usually bring up issues in talk pages. I apologize for any personal offense that may have caused and I regret going that far immediately, although I did it for very specific reasons.
The Valve Developer Community, above all else, is a wiki centered around the Source engine SDK. Its purpose is to provide information for developers, written by developers. This is explained in Valve Developer Community:About and reflected in related pages. This purpose has been expanded to include information on GoldSrc, Source 2, Steam, and community-made mods, but the this wiki is generally supposed to serve as online documentation for anyone working with Valve's software.
— The article "Half-Life 3" refers to something which the article literally claims to "not exist". It's not a publicly announced Valve title with any technical information or utility to people using the Source SDK. It's true that Half-Life 3 has strong cultural significance in the Valve community, but that doesn't mean it should be on the VDC.
— The article "Half-Life 2: Beta" refers to something Valve very famously does not approve of. I called it a prohibited subject because there was a conversation between a user and a Valve employee in 2006 which made clear that assets from the leak violate the terms of use. However, in retrospect, I think it was a mistake for me to call it a "prohibited subject" since the issue in that case was in regard to assets being uploaded directly to the VDC rather than simply discussing the leak on the wiki, and I do not have the authority to determine whether or not this is actually prohibited for editors to discuss and document. I take back what I said about it being specifically prohibited.
With that being said, what purpose does the article actually serve on the wiki in relation to what I said before about this site mainly being intended for developers? The article seems to exist only to chronicle the event and its significance in the community, and the content in the leak itself is illegal to distribute anyhow. What technical purpose does it serve for users of the Source SDK?
— The article "HL2World" mostly just presents information about the HL2 beta in relation to the aforementioned "Half-Life 2: Beta" article and doesn't really relate to the purposes of this wiki in any capacity.
I would once again like to apologize for any perceived hostility, as it is not my intention to offend anyone. These articles simply don't belong on this wiki and I hope this clears that up. --Blixibon (talk) 19:33, 16 March 2022 (PDT)
