The Checkerboard.bmp file

About the checkerboard file: Links will break sooner or later, so if this image is somehow valuable, we should upload it to the wiki. I tried to upload the single image directly to the VDC as a bmp, but the wiki wouldn't allow it, but we could upload it as a (lossless) png instead, provided that all possible invisible layers are saved, which means that we naturally cannot use Microsofts Paint to do it. (Gimp will work, but I don't have Gimp, and I'm in a hurry, so somebody with Gimp would have to do it.)

I don't know what the image itself is for. I just read the following text about it:

"This bitmap file used to be included in the Source SDK and on the Valve-erc to aid in UV mapping procedures. However, for some reason it is not included anymore, and seems to have disappeared from the internet. Through many days and aspirin bottles, I've finally found it again for new users that struggle to find this long lost file.

A download link is currently avalable for download at: http://www.mediafire.com/?9mmkzdn2j29 -- Phraggah 03:50, 27 August 2008"
