Link to Source SDK Games is Broken

The link that shows a list of games which give the Source SDK is now broken, thanks to Steam... I'm trying to find how they changed it, but no luck so far. I need it for the Dystopia wiki page on installation myself.--Pyroguy 05:35, 26 May 2008 (PDT)

Click and Crash Bug

I ran across the click-and-crash bug in Hammer after the last SDK update. I'm using Windows XP (Home) and have the December 2005 DX SDK installed. I demonstrated (to myself, in any case) that switching between debug and retail versions of the d3d dlls relieves the problem. The "Enable Shader Debugging" option had no apparent effect. FYI, this was not an easy one to find.

I made an addition to the Hammer FAQ page for this problem.

I added the bug here because something like this must apparently be verified before being added to the Known Issues page. How does one get this "verified?" -- BJ

I am currently a student in Level Design at Cegep de Matane (Quebec, Canada) and today, following the update of SDK + HL2 I'm not able to run either. Here's the error message I get:: "MountFilesystem (236) failed: SteamMountFilesystem (2352,236,0 x11f8fc74 = 0x11f8fd74) failed with error 19: Internal Cache Error"

I checked the entire two, but it seems to be a bug in the update created. I saw on the forum that many people are affected by the same problem as me. --Seb_the_french

What's the diff

Whats the difference between the Tools->Source SDK and Tools->Source SDK Base? Did I miss the discussion some where? Thanks.--JavaTexan 14:10, 18 Nov 2006 (PST)

The Source SDK is all the tools you need to do fancy things. Source SDK Base is the latestest shinest version of the engine, the engine all new mods are assigned to by defualt. you only need to the SDK to mod, but you only need the base to play new mods. Offline

I'm trying to install the SDK on my laptop to mod on the go, but the SDK refuses to launch in offline mode. Is there a hack to get around this?

Run it once online first, try everything and make sure its fully good to go. I always try that when offline modes complaining it an its always fixed it. --Angry Beaver 12:00, 20 Jun 2007 (PDT)

installation problem

i have installed sdk source and sdk source base. after i was done that i tried it out and this is what happens i clicked on my desktop shortcut and it says:"prepareing to lanch sdk..." but it dissapears and nothing pops up i have tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it but nothing happens i looked online for help but could not find anything so i tryied here PLEASE HELP ME!!! Cannot install any source sdk from steam.

When ever i try to install the sdk or sdk base the steam servers are always busy..... ive done what steam said but nothing. is there an alternative download? plz help -Ali

Launching it?

This guide is outdated. I don't know how to launch the SDK or if I've even got it! When I click on the install link it does nothing. I have HL-2, TF-2 and other Source games. Help please! –Calisthenis 20:23, 11 April 2011 (UTC)

Clarifying the "Free to All" of Source

Now i know that the SDK is free to all... so does that mean that any mods can be played by anyone even without TF2? (Avoiding The 10+ GB Download)?

basically can i make my mod, without restricting an end user to download a source game?

No, you still need a game to base your mod on. Source SDK Base is the best choice for stability and footprint size, but it still depends on a whole lot of HL2 content. There is definitely room for a minimal game that provides the engine binaries without any content! SDK Problems

Hello! Just to inform you I am new to Steam etc, and know little about it. I installed both SDK and Team Fortress 2, but when I open up SDK, Team Fortress 2 did not show up as an available package (it didn't allow me to select a title). Is there something I did wrong?
