I'm looking for a list of available banner templates on this wiki

I've found an entity description which is completly broken, false with a lot of keyvalues and flags missing, I need to add a banner to it. Is there a list of banners available somewhere?--Hurricaaane (Talk) 08:53, 24 Feb 2008 (PST)

When you say banner, do you mean template (such as: {{kv_targetname}} ?) If so then I believe that, at the moment, the only list with keyvalues/inputs/outputs templates is the one on the Help:Editing page. I think there is no comprehensive list of template messages currently available on the wiki. --Etset 14:15, 24 Feb 2008 (PST)
Actually it's banners I'm looking for, not formatting templates. Like This article is a stub, or this page needs to be cleaned up, etc.--Hurricaaane (Talk) 02:37, 26 Feb 2008 (PST)
Here's a few banner templates I know of: {{stub}}, {{pov}}, {{cleanup}}, {{tutorial cleanup}}, translation templates, merge templates, deletion templates. --Etset 03:07, 26 Feb 2008 (PST)
Weird, I thought they were always called notices. Matthew Dryden 09:58, 25 Mar 2008 (PDT)

Hi, is possible to translate the Valve Developer Community's articles in Italian?

Of course! Go ahead and do it. :-) Remember to create the pages at <English name>:it, and use the otherlang templates. --TomEdwards 09:53, 7 Apr 2008 (PDT)

Newer version of MediaWiki

Hello. What about to use newer version of MediaWiki (eg. 1.12 or 1.13alpha). Reiny 08:35, 5 Jun 2008 (PDT)

Syntax Highlighting

Hello. Why don't you use some syntax highlighting MW extension? It's better than still using <span style="color: blue;">#include</span> &lt;iostream&gt;. The best is SyntaxHighlight GeSHi.

Website Name

hey, i found this wiki when looking for how to use the level editor in TF2, and find it hard to remember the website name... is there a different URL, instead of http://developer.valvesoftware.com/w/index.php?--Pyromancer 21:55, 17 Jul 2008 (PDT)

You can use developer.valvesoftware.com. It'll forward you to the main page. Solokiller 04:27, 18 Jul 2008 (PDT)

Download the whole wiki!?!

Bob1050

Is There needs to be a way to download the whole wiki in a pdf format so that we can view it offline. Is there something like this and I am missing it?

Not possible. You'd just have to copy / paste all the pages (or atleast the ones you need) yourself. --DannyS 00:08, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
It actually is possible, one of the guys over on the Blender Wiki did something like this several months ago, turned the whole English section of the wiki manual into one large PDF. I've run across a few methods myself, the problem is there's certain drawbacks to the different approaches. You would either end up placing a very high load on VALVe's servers (not sure they'd be happy with that) or would require direct access to the WiKi's server files themselves, something currently limited to VALVe personnel, IIRC. --brandished 04:28, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

Speedy Deletion - 'Idea Mods'

What is the general consensus on 'idea mods'? For example when people post a long list of staff requests with absolutely nothing to show for the project, sometimes even requesting prior work from these people who are wanted to build the mod for the creator. I'm talking about things like this:

MOD NAME SKILL TO INFINITY MOD HL2

WANTED: SKILLED PROFFESSIONALS WITH PRIOR WORK FOR SHOWN WHO CAN DO THE FOLOWING

5 PROGRAMMERS SKILLED C++ 5 YEARS

10 MODELERS MUST BE IN INDUSTRY

ARTISTS [ALOT]

PROFESNAL GAME DESIGNER (PREFABRLY THE ONE WHO MADE PRINCE OF PERSIA)

WHOEVER ELSE NEEDED FOR MAKE GAME

YOU CAN SUBMIT APPLCIATOIN AT [adjective][rpgcharacterclass][randomnumber]@hotmail.com

I've been marking them with a speedy deletion tag (much to the agitation of the 'Idea Guy' behind it). What are all your opinions on this? --Omnicoder 00:01, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

I Agree, if there was some show of progress or commitment on their own then i think it would be fine to let it stay there, however, having an idea and then saying to the world "come join me i have an awesome idea" is just lame. I have been workong on mods for about 2 years now, trying to find a good idea that works. Until a mod gets to that stage, it shouldn't b eposted on here. MLSTRM 10:10, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

So what is the minimum required for posting anything to do with a mod on it's own page, or a request page:

  1. Concept art stage?
  2. Modelling / Map design stage?
  3. Playable work in progress?

--Welsh Mullet 14:11, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

In my opinion at least, I'd say a minimum for posting is having a decent idea what you want the mod to be, well planned out, hopefully some concept art. --Omnicoder 21:34, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

We should definitely delete idea mods with no content, especially when the person trying to start the mod has no skills and can do none of the actual work themself. "for sum reazon im not good at programming but I manage ppl REAL well". Does it matter though? Are there any admins who delete the pages marked with speedy? There's a massive backlog with pages that have been marked for deletion for years. Thelonesoldier 00:11, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

Full level won't load?

The two levels I've attempted to make for l4d ended up loading a fraction of the entities/brushes/translations (so some things are placed incorrectly). There a way to fix this?

As stated at the top of this page in bold: This page is not for support questions! --Omnicoder 15:41, 17 October 2010 (UTC)

Seems kinda like everyone is asking support questions... or all types of questions, including support.

Wikipedia's Navbox Template

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:Navbox

I'm of the opinion that this would be a very useful template to have but it looks like it has some dependancies and so forth. I'm not particularly well rehearsed in templates; are there any wiki-ninjas out there who would consider grabbing a copy and making it work for VDC? --Nacimota Talk | Contributions 05:10, 28 April 2011 (UTC)
