This section should also include something about also needing MSVC 2003. I felt kind of burned when I started work on my first MOD and got to the point where it says "OK! Now just fire up Microsoft Visual C++ 2003...". I'm still running MSVC 6, which works fine for everything else I've worked on. At this point I'm just going to work on non-Source projects until the (free) MSVC 2005 Express support is released. :(X [[User:Luvcraft|Luvcraft]] 09:11, 22 Dec 2005 (PST)

General

  • "The SDK is updated continuously and automatically, including new features (like HDR)"

Should this be "The SDK is updated every year or so, at valves discretion"?

Too true! In fact: "The SDK is updated whenever Valve feels like breaking something." --Faubi 18:55, 2 August 2010 (UTC)

  • "Complimented with in depth community tutorials"

Should this be "Complemented with in depth community tutorials"? --n-neko 23:13, 20 Oct 2005 (PDT)

Yup. (And "in depth" should be "in-depth".) —Maven (talk) 11:28, 21 Oct 2005 (PDT)

MSVC 2003

This section should also include something about also needing MSVC 2003. I felt kind of burned when I started work on my first MOD and got to the point where it says "OK! Now just fire up Microsoft Visual C++ 2003...". I'm still running MSVC 6, which works fine for everything else I've worked on. At this point I'm just going to work on non-Source projects until the (free) MSVC 2005 Express support is released. :(X Luvcraft 09:11, 22 Dec 2005 (PST)

Yes, the title "Included: all of the tools used to build Half-Life 2" is a bit misleading. `zozart .chat @ 07:36, 22 Jan 2006 (PST)

Update

This page needs the following:—ts2do 21:06, 19 Mar 2006 (PST)

{{otherlang:en}}{{otherlang:en:jp|Building MODs with Valve Technology:jp}}
Should also add HDR to the feature list! --Steamfraiser 19:26, 29 May 2006 (PDT)

Headings

There are quite a few HRs on that page. It looks a bit confusing, as they are usually for splitting sections up but the list in the article is all the same thing. Going down a heading size would probably be a good thing. --TomEdwards 00:09, 20 Mar 2006 (PST)

xsi

why exactly does it say that source SDK comes with xsi? Unless I am very, very mistaken, this is a very, very false statement. --Darthkillyou 19:54, 18 Oct 2007 (PDT)

Source SDK directly links to XSI. --Baliame 08:44, 19 Oct 2007 (PDT)

Wrong information about ownership

> And if you already own Half-Life 2 or Counter-Strike: Source, you've already got access to the full SDK.

Source SDK is also included with Day of Defeat: Source, Left 4 Dead, Left 4 Dead 2, Team Fortress 2, Half-Life 2 Episode One and Half-Life 2 Episode Two.

And Portal. --Faubi 18:54, 2 August 2010 (UTC)

Old information about getting Source SDK

"And if you already own Half-Life 2 or Counter-Strike: Source, you've already got access to the full SDK."

Anyone can get the SDK free of charge, with Alien Swarm. Perhaps that should be mentioned there. BZRatfink 19:51, 17 September 2010 (UTC)

Alien Swarm Authoring tools != Source SDK --Omnicoder 01:39, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
Source SDK is now free via Steam, so I really think this should be changed. --£cho 12:36, 21 July 2011 (PDT)
Yep, Doesn't TF give access to full SDK? --Disactive 05:10, 6 August 2011 (PDT)
Guess what: Valve doesn't care anymore. They make money off of Steam sales, not licensing Source engine or even developing new games. Geez, even this site isn't updated or even grammar-wise corrected. Unsigned comment added by ‎Bisonfan95 (talkcontribs). Please use four tildes (~~~~) to sign your username.

This is one of the funniest pages I've ever read on anything

The fact that the page is protected to block vandalism just adds so much more to it.
