Page needs to be written in third person, and maybe make it a little shorter. It's quite hefty right now! I would note that it's a good diea to make the images smaller, and maybe align them off to the right of the page or something.--Gear 07:30, 4 August 2010 (UTC)

I have a troubleshooting suggestion, but I'm not sure if it goes on the page. I expect not, but here it is anyway. If you've spent hours on a map and Hammer crashes when loading it the next day, the map is probably corrupt. But don't despair! You can still retrieve most of your work.

Here's how: open your precious VMF in Notepad (it's all text). Then open another Notepad. Cut a single entity block out of the VMF and paste it into the empty Notepad. Save the VMF and try to load it in Hammer. Repeat until Hammer doesn't crash any more. Delete the last entity you pasted and cut-n-paste the rest back into the VMF. Save and exit.

Now, assuming you only had one bad entity, your VMF will load in Hammer. You lose an entity, but that's minutes of map work as opposed to hours. Well, it worked for me anyway. --Fatman UK 20:57, 13 August 2010 (UTC)

Cleaning up

I'm trying to improve the quality of this article, making several corrections while trying to maintain its original spirit. Let me know what you think.

Quit

I think I might start writing a tutorial myself from the scratch and quit this one. --Runonce 22:16, 21 February 2012 (PST)
