An example of a well-lit room. It is lit by a combination of the following:

  • The lamp above consists of a prop_static shade, providing 100% linear light with a light_spot, while dazzling the player with an env_sprite.
  • The window filters in a light_environment together with a shadow_control and an env_sun. However, the window opening itself simulates refracted sunlight through an invisible white001_nochop material brush.
  • To the left is a "developer only" button which automatically builds cubemaps when pressed (through a point_clientcommand issuing the buildcubemaps console command).

Probably the only thing missing in this picture is HDR lighting.
