The way I look at it, there are probably 90 mods out there that never get anywhere for every 10 that actually release something. I want to up the odds that some of those 90 get to the release stage, even if they never get anywhere with it. Coding is sort of a daunting subject to put in a book, but it will provide a good basic set of information about how to code up a multiplayer team oriented mod. It's suprising what basic things you don't get with the SDK right now - like the code to handle team selection, which is pretty basic to any team oriented mod. It's also going to cover basic weapon coding and entities. I am also going to cover some of the harder to categorize things with "other topic" chapters on creating textures and sounds (for example), but also things like "Creating a Successful Mod Team" I should have a chapter outline online in a while, plus will be setting up a companion website where I'll probably put up a few sample chapters to get feedback. --[[User:Holtt|Holtt]] 01:48, 29 Dec 2005 (PST) :Hi, Tim. I am interesting in your SDK book to translate Japanese. I have already talked with O'Reilly Japan. They are focusing on increase Game Development books. After publishing your book, they will send to me and we disucss the possibilty to sell Japanese translrated version. :I use Source SDK for education in game college. I guess it is first trial in Japan. Because Mod is not popular in Japan, students cannot study actual tool about recent game SDK. Japanese console companies don't help much for education. Students cannot touch expensive console SDK and Console companies usually don't sell SDK to school. :I think Source SDK is good solution for students. I am working to develop SDK community with my online friends in Japan in this year. Even Unreal SDK doesn't have Japanese community either. The main reason is language barrier. :Many SDK documents ware translated to Japanese by N-neko and C-SEC members. It is based on Japanese community. But it is not enough to teach. Because hypertexts are complex, it is not useful for beginner. And other university is planning SDK education and use the research for Serious game project. :So I am looking for the good handbook for translation.
